Groups at Liquid Church
When did "flying solo" become the norm? Humans are designed to be in community with others. And we're not talking about polite, surface, keep up appearances acquaintances. We're talking authentic, vulnerable, let's be real with each other relationships. This is a chance for you to step out of isolation, and gather in a Group to pursue Jesus together.
Deeo Dive Bible Studies are now available for 2026! Click the button below to learn more! As for Groups, stay tuned for a special announcement and new Groups to join!

Deep Dive Bible Study
This January at Liquid Church, we’re hosting Deep Dive Bible Studies through the book of Joshua, and you’re invited to join us! Deep Dive Bible Studies are designed to provide engaging and transformative opportunities to study an entire Book of the Bible from start to finish. Our desire is that Deep Dive will help you gain a deeper understanding of Scripture. This verse-by-verse study includes daily homework, guided conversations, and a rich weekly in-person or online gathering. This 10-week study is being offered across our campuses and online. Check-out all your options below!

Deep Dive FAQ
Tired of skimming the surface? Take a “Deep Dive” into God’s Word with our 10 week in-depth Bible Study of the book of Joshua! To learn more about what to expect from a Deep Dive Bible Study, explore our FAQ.
Deep Dive is a verse-by-verse, in-depth Bible study designed to help Christians who want to go deeper in their understanding of Scripture through careful study, daily homework, and guided conversation about God’s Word.
The Deep Dive Bible Study is offered in 5 physical locations and online. You can join us in-person in Mercer County, Morris County, Passaic County, Somerset County, and Union County Mountainside (with our Garwood Campus invited to join!).
The Deep Dive Bible Study is offered at three different times and in multiple locations.
-Tuesday Mornings: From 9:30-11:30AM in Morris County.
-Wednesday Nights: From 7:00-9:00PM in Mercer, Passaic, Somerset, and Union County Mountainside locations. (please note Somerset County will meet at the United Reformed Church in Somerville)
-Thursday Nights: From 7:00-9:00PM online via Zoom.
At all locations, this 2-hour experience is hosted by a Campus Pastor and a team of Deep Dive group leaders supporting the table discussion. Each meeting includes a teaching video and in-person gatherings include snacks.
Yes! Every participant in ALL of the studies must purchase the $25 workbook listed in the sign-up form to participate. (Please note, you make this purchase on your own and books are not provided). Additionally, in-person groups that meet on Tuesday morning and Wednesday nights must pay a $25 registration fee to cover food and facility costs. There is no additional charge for the online Deep Dive study.
Deep Dive is for everyone! While our study was written by Jen Wilkin, who is known for primarily writing Bible Studies for women, the Joshua content is applicable to both men and women. When meeting weekly, men and women will be together for the Large Group gathering (ie: Teaching Video). However, our smaller breakout Table Discussions will be based on gender (men with men; women with women). Please note this means spouses will not be sitting together during discussion time.
Absolutely! You will get the most out of our Deep Dive Bible Study by joining from the beginning, but you are welcome to join any week of the study.
Yes. Young Adults (20-somethings) will have their own discussion table at Deep Dive locations. However, this study would probably not be of interest to most High Schoolers. Please note that High School Students in Parsippany will have an opportunity to join their own Bible study - called Discipleship Cohorts - running at the same time from 7-9PM on Wednesday nights.
We are excited to share that on Tuesday mornings in Parsippany childcare will be available during the Deep Dive Bible Study. The cost is included in your Tuesday morning registration fee. You will be prompted to register your children for childcare after completing your Deep Dive registration. There is no childcare available for our Wednesday Night Deep Dive Bible Studies at any location.

Lead a Small Group
God works through relationships to bring about spiritual growth. By leading a Small Group at Liquid Church, you’ll play an important role in that growth process!

Group Leader FAQs
Our Group Leaders play an important role at Liquid Church. If you're considering taking a next step, start by getting answers to some common questions via our FAQ.
You should know that a leader’s number one job is to welcome people into their Small Group and make them feel comfortable! Any experience that you’ve had leading a Small Group in the past is helpful, but not required.
Small Group Leaders do not need to be Bible scholars, but they must be growing Christ followers who fulfill 3 requirements.
Qualified Small Group Leaders must:
- Love Jesus: They are a committed Christ follower who is actively growing in the Lord. Others describe them as growing
- Love People: They have natural affection, compassion, and care for people. Others describe them as relational
- Love Liquid: They regularly attend Liquid Church each week, and consider it their primary church. Others describe them as loyal
Small Group Leaders will be trained and required to:
- Attend a Campus-led Leader training event for initial training
- Attend an Annual Retreat so we can provide practical tools for success
- Attend regular Meetings with a Group Coach, approximately once per semester or 3 times per year for a time of discipleship, prayer, and problem-solving
- Take advantage of Liquid’s Monthly “Drip” Training – short form content like a video or podcast designed to help Leaders develop and grow.
All new Small Group Leaders will participate in a New Leader Training event before your Small Group begins. At the training, we’ll equip and prepare you for your Small Group launch. You will also be matched up with a Coach, whom you will meet with regularly for support and encouragement along the way.
We ask that you commit to leading one “semester” of a Small Group (usually about 8-12 weeks). At the end of this semester, you and your Small Group members will decide whether you would like to continue on together as a Group. Your Coach will help you navigate that conversation, and Liquid will provide tools, study materials, ongoing support, and training for Small Groups that continue on.
When will we meet?: There are Small Groups that meet weekly or bi-weekly (every other week.) You can decide how often to meet and the day and time that works for you.
Where will we meet?: Groups can meet in-person, online, or a hybrid of both. In-person meetings may be at your home, a common space like a coffee shop, or at one of our Liquid Church locations.
When a Small Group first starts out, you will follow a study guide curriculum provided by the Liquid Groups Department based on Liquid’s Sunday messages. This is a sermon-based study. After that, your Group may elect to remain sermon-based or select a study approved by the Liquid Groups Department.
There are many ways for people to join a Small Group. The first way is that they are invited by the Leader or Group members — we believe Small Groups work best when they build on natural relationships that already exist, so if there are people you know, you can invite them to be in your Group. The second way people join Groups is by selecting one that fits their location and stage of life through our sign-up page on LiquidChurch.com/GroupFinder. Liquid also hosts Connect Events to provide an opportunity for people to meet Leaders prior to attending a Group meeting.
While meeting virtually, childcare is the responsibility of each individual or family. When our Small Groups meet in person, each individual Group is responsible for deciding how to handle childcare needs.
Some options are:
- Have parents arrange for sitters on their own and attend the Group without children.
- Chip in for a sitter who watches the kids in a different room while your Group meets.
- Group members take turns watching the kids each week.
If you have additional questions about hosting a Small Group you can email Discipleship Coordinator, Janise Brutus at [email protected].
