What Is Baptism?

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation that has already taken place through our personal faith is Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It’s a public declaration that we have made the decision to follow Jesus!

Baptism does not save us. The Bible teaches that salvation is based on personal faith in Jesus Christ apart from any other action. Baptism is a symbol of the salvation that has already taken place in our life!

Why Should I Be Baptized?

We get baptized because Jesus commands us to do so! Jesus set the example by being baptized Himself. Obedience to Jesus shows we believe and follow Him. Because Jesus went public about His love for us, we can go public about our love for Him.

Baptisms in the Bible were by immersion, and Jesus was baptized by being immersed in the water and rising out of it. Being submersed in the water represents our death to sin and old way of life, and being raised out of the water is a picture of how Jesus gave us a fresh start!
