CHURCH ASSEMBLES FIRST EVER VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS CHOIR ON CHRISTMAS EVE

INDIVIDUALS FROM AROUND THE WORLD CAN PARTICIPATE VIA WEBCAMS AND YOUTUBE

November 28, 2011 -- Morristown, NJ // Liquid Church of New Jersey is out to bring joy to the world this Christmas Eve by organizing the world’s first virtual Christmas choir made up of singers from around the world wide web.

Whether they’re soldiers in the Middle East, moms in Estonia or students in Phoenix, Arizona, the church will leverage technology to synchronize individual singers into a unified choir rendition of Silent Night.

“We’re creating a unique experience for singers across the globe to come together as one voice this Christmas,” said Tim Lucas, Lead Pastor of the New Jersey-based non-denominational Christian church.

“We have thousands of people who attend our church services, watch online or download our podcasts and we’re asking them all to help spread the Christmas cheer together with us by getting involved.”

The Christmas Virtual Choir will harness the trend of web video technology and YouTube to connect people and create something beautiful across time and space for the December 24th event.

Singers are given access to sheet music, music tracks and a video-recorded conductor so that anyone can record and upload their contribution to YouTube. Liquid Church’s media team will then assemble a composite video production that integrates all of the individual videos into one large-scale synchronized video rendering for the Christmas Virtual Choir.

Participation in the Christmas Virtual Choir is open to everyone around the globe, not just the 2,000 weekly attendees in New Jersey, and thousands more who routinely visit Liquid’s website and Church Online campus.

The deadline for those who want to participate in the choir is December 15th. Instructions are available at http://www.lqd.ch/xmasvideo.

The Christmas Virtual Choir’s performance will occur at six live Christmas Eve services in New Jersey on December 24th held by Liquid Church:
Morristown // Morristown Hyatt at 12pm • 2pm • 4pm
New Brunswick // The Heldrich at 2pm • 4pm
Nutley // John H. Walker Middle School at 2pm

About the Virtual Choir

What is a Virtual Choir?

The Christmas Virtual Choir leverages the power of the internet in aggregating and connecting people to create something beautiful across time and space. Specifically, Liquid Church creating a way for individuals around the world to contribute to a unified voice through the Christmas Virtual Choir that will glorify God in this holiday season. The song selection for the Christmas Virtual Choir performance is Silent Night.

Liquid Church was inspired by Eric Whitacre who assembled the first virtual choir and previewed a video at TED 2011.

Why a Virtual Choir?

As a multi-site church, it's not often that we get together in one location. This is also great way to leverage the internet, involve people from its church online campus as well as invite scores of other people around the world to be “one body” this holiday season.

Anyone with a webcam and access to YouTube can participate. This event is not just for the 2,000 regular attendees at the three New Jersey campuses (Morristown, New Brunswick & Nutley) as well as the thousands of Church Online campus attendees and podcast listeners.
